Thanksgiving is a special time of year that we all look forward to. It is a time to connect with family and friends, enjoy delicious food, and share happy memories.
Today we’re sharing some fun Thanksgiving activities that you can enjoy in Austin, Texas, this year!
Mozart's Holiday Light Show
If you’ve been looking for a fun family activity this holiday season, this might just be the perfect one! This show features whimsical animal characters and beautiful scenery set to classic holiday tunes performed by Austin musicians. Food can be ordered in advance and will be waiting for you at your table when you arrive for your show. 4-person tables are $40. It’s a truly magical experience for the whole family! The Thinkery
This is a STEM-inspired museum for kids. The museum has fun hands-on activities and workshops that are perfect for kids of all ages. They have special Thanksgiving-themed programming planned for the holiday weekend as well. You can check it out at their official website (Note: Admission is $12 per adult and $8 per child). Thinkery is closed on the 24th of November but is open on the 23rd and 25th.

The Desserts Campfire
This place offers delicious campfire treats that you can roast over an open fire outside. They also have outdoor games available to play while you enjoy your food. The Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot
This one is for all of the runners out there! The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, one of Austin’s most beloved Thanksgiving traditions, started in 1991 Today it has grown to be the largest 5-mile run in Texas. It’s a great way for families to have fun together on Thanksgiving and a part of all proceeds go directly to Caritas of Austin, a non-profit that works to prevent and end homelessness in the Austin community. To date, the Turkey Trot has raised more than $4.4 million for Caritas.
This annual event brings thousands of people together to participate in a fun 5-mile run in downtown Austin. It’s a great way to stay active and get the whole family involved in healthy activities over the holiday weekend. Check out their website for more details.

Fort Landia, Wild Flower Center
This is a great family-friendly attraction that is sure to be a hit with the kids. Selected artists from across Texas come to build custom forts where kids can play and explore. This year’s lineup of custom forts will transport you to imaginary worlds and spark an appreciation for art and nature. The Wild Flower Center also offers plenty of outdoor activities such as hiking trails and guided wildflower tours. Be sure to check out their holiday open house on November 23rd from 1 pm to 5 pm. The Science Mill
Another awesome family attraction worth checking out is The Science Mill. It features hands-on exhibits for all ages and plenty of fun activities that will entertain the whole family. The Zach Theatre: a Christmas Carol
This one is for the kids! If you’re looking to do something fun and educational with your kids over the holidays, you should definitely check out this show. It tells the story of a young boy named Tiny Tim who loses his home and family to hard times but finds a new family in Ebeneezer Scrooge. It’s a heartwarming story perfect for the holiday season! If you’re looking for a great family-friendly event in South Austin, you should definitely check out Buck’s Backyard Thanksgiving Party. Stoned vs. Drunk vs. Sober Turkey Roast

Featuring comics from Comedy Central, HBO, and up-and-comers you need to know! This event is a stand-up comedy competition featuring three teams of comics that try to answer the question, "What if comics got stoned, drunk, or sober, then gave it their best as they perform on the edge?"
