Living a nomadic lifestyle comes with having authentic experiences while meeting new people and seeing the world. While traveling you’ll probably want to document these amazing experiences to show your friends and family but why not share your experiences with the wider audience?

When becoming a content creator it can be hard to keep up with all the different social media platforms out there and with our ever changing tides we try to keep on top of it all. Here we will go through some key points on sharing content in 2022.

Which social media platform should you be using to share your content?

As a newcomer to the field of digital marketing, it can be difficult to figure out the best way to promote your work and brand. However, there are plenty of digital marketers out there who specialize in social media management, and can help share your authentic brand’s message on a variety of platforms. Here are some of the most widely used social media platforms and how you can leverage them to reach your intended audience:

1. YouTube

YouTube is a great platform for content creators to share video content. Video can be a great way to engage with your audience and market your products and services. Youtube is mostly known for its long form content though it is adapting to the new trend of short form content by introducing the Youtube Shorts format. Depending on the type of content you provide you might want to keep your main ‘product’ for Youtube while you bring more personal and short snippets of your content, behind the scenes and more personal aspects towards Instagram and TikTok in order to add more value to your users and give them a reason to follow you both on YouTube and other social media platforms. It is very important to understand every social media platform you are using and what value you are adding to your audience.

2. TikTok and Instagram

TikTok and Instagram are great platforms for sharing beautiful visuals with your fans. Nowadays the short content videos are one of the most consumed content around the globe and thus it is a great opportunity for you to be seen by a larger audience. You can include images and videos that highlight your blog posts, products or other aspects that are relevant to your audience. When deciding what content to post on Tiktok and Instagram, you will need to keep in mind ‘the hook’ and have dynamic content which keeps the audience engaged at all times. The hook is your thumbnail and the first few seconds of that video that make a person NOT* scroll but watch your video all the way to the end. Usually it is good to provide value throughout the video and not provide what the viewers are looking for right away. Identifying your competitors and pinpointing things that you can do better is also a great way to stand out within one niche or market.

3. LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a great way to connect with other professionals and grow your business network. It is one of the fastest growing platforms but it is not a place for instant growth, it requires patience and a more profound understanding of your persona or audience you are targeting. LinkedIn is also a great way to promote your content and network with bloggers, journalists, and influencers.

The content you post on LinkedIn should always be complemented with your engagement on other content creators’ posts as this builds more exposure and network of other like-minded individuals and thus increases your credibility within the industry. While creating content on LinkedIn you want to make sure you divide your sentences into short sentences that are easy to understand and read.

4. Twitter

While sharing profound and detailed content is important, different individuals prefer different ways of consuming content. One of the most popular ways is short Tweets with a limit of 280 characters. In these examples usually brands prefer to inform the audience about different topics and/or engage in conversations about certain issues related to their own audience. Creating content that is short and on point is essential.

Some of the most essential guidelines that come directly from Twitter on best practices are: Limit to 1-2 hashtags per Tweet, be conversational, keep your copy short and sweet, use images, GIFs, and/or videos whenever possible, make sure to constantly test and use analytics to see what works, and monitor events and trending conversations.

5. Medium

Medium is a great platform for blogging, and creating a profile on this platform is a great way to share your content. On this platform creating authentic content for your readers helps you stand out from your competition and to connect with your audience on a deeper level.

With Medium, creating content that speaks to a specific audience and inspires them to take action is about understanding their needs and interests and providing valuable content to your audience.

The Digital Age

In the digital age content creation is becoming a more and more important part of running a business or your personal brand. It is important to understand the different ways in which you can share your content with your audience. The social media platforms that should be used include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube. Each of these platforms has its own unique characteristics and audience. You should be strategic about which platforms you utilize depending on your audience and the goals for your content.

Most importantly you should focus on one or two platforms to begin with by identifying which are the platforms that are compatible with your way of adding value to your audience and then combining that with where your audience is most likely to be present throughout the existing social media platforms. It is a great start to utilize research tools such as Tubebuddy for Youtube or SocialBlade for multiple social media platforms. These are very useful tools for research and a great way to understand both the market and how your competitors are behaving within different platforms.
