The Grackle

Have you ever wanted to experience a whole range of hard-to-find whiskeys without searching the earth for the best location to do so?
Well we have your new best friend right here. Meet Daniel Swenson, the general manager at the Grackle on East 6th street in Austin, Texas. Grackle you say? Yes, a Grackle is from the blackbird family and native to North and South America, especially in the Austin area where you’ll find large flocks of them in and around 6th street, hence the bar name and the Grackle bird logo.

The Grackle is known as a neighborhood dive bar with chill and hipster vibes supporting an enormous selection of over 100 whiskies and lots of craft beers. Locals have mentioned that they think “they might have the best selection of whiskeys in town” which is a pretty big deal especially for whiskey connoisseurs. All in all, bartenders here are knowledgeable on the products available and extremely welcoming, generally offering a shot of whiskey and beer combo deal at reasonable prices with dozens of “hard-to-find” whiskeys!

As for the entertainment, inside they have dart boards, a pool table, billiards, air conditioning, indoor seating and a killer jukebox - who doesn't love a killer jukebox hey. While you’ll no doubt take yourself outside because of the weather, the Grackle offers a large, covered patio area with picnic tables, a diverse crowd, easy parking and even two food trailers. Perfect if you’re feeling hungry before your trip home or need a snack during your visit.

The main luxury of Grackle is the location on 6th street and being a stone's throw away from many other bars in the area. One being Zilker, an urban craft brewery which captures the art of brewing a perfect Austenite beer. So once you're done at Grackle head across the street to Zilker and go for another!
